Hi, can a German please tell me how was Jochen Marseille’s surname pronounced. In french and English, it is “mar-say”. But would germans pronounce it differently. His nickname was “seille”, pronounced “say” or “sale” ?

His mates wouldn't call him that, the media did.

In german, you pronounce Marseille almost as in french or english. But a non french-speaking german
pronounce it a bit more like mar-see, a german familar with french pronounce it more like mar-say.
Noone would pronounce it Mar-sale. Same for his nickname, its pronounced like say or sey.
