Kurierstaffeln.

Post by tigre »

Hello to all :D; a new topic.............................

Kurierketten und Kurierstaffeln (Courier squadrons and sections).

Courier flyers were an essential part of any Air Force and were in use since the beginning until the last day of the war. The liaison and communication between the Air Force and the Army was held by courier squadrons and sections. Most of these units were organized from 1939 to 1941. As the planning for Operation Barbarossa was in progress, the demand on these units increased and so training schools were instructed to provide aircraft and personnel for the newly formed liaison squadrons.

The courier squadrons were the backbone of the important links between the high command, the field units and the supply units. Within these squadrons served several types of aircraft, but the main airplane was the Fieseler Fi-156 "Storch".

So what was the criteria for selection in the appointment of the pilots of these units? TIA. Cheers. Raúl M 8).
