The I. / JG 76 in the Reich Defence 1939-1940.

It was not all roses ......................


The Bf-109 of Fw Hier (1. / JG 76) landed by mistake in Strasbourg-Woerth on November 22, 1939 and was captured intact.


The Bf-109 of Lt Schulz (3./JG 76) shot down near Sarreguemines, the pilot survived and was captured (December 1939).


Under custody, the Bf-109 E of the 3. / JG 76 is inspected by French officers.

The I. / KG 55 in Rosenborn in September 1939.

On September 1, 1939, with the German invasion, began the Polish campaign and on September 3, 1939 the KG 55 was detached eastwards, being deployed as follows: HQ and II. / KG 55 in Märzdorf / Ohlau and I. / KG 55 in Rosenborn. By September 3, 1939 the Wing HQ had 6 He-111P in service (66%), the I. / KG 55 27 He-111P (82%) and the II. / KG 55 22 He-111P (75% ).
