I have found claimes that a FW-190 pilot named Robert Heichelle allegedly shot down the P-38 Lightning belonging to French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry on July 31,1944 over Bay of Carqueiranne near Marseille.
Can someone tell me something about this pilot and is there a mention about this kill in German documents or flight record.

Hi,
Just a nitpick. The bay of Carqueiranne is near Toulon ( east of Toulon) and not near Marseille. Several P 38 ( or F5) were lost this day.
The Saint-Exupery's F5 was found between the Calanque of Sormiou and the Riou island, 10/15 km south of Marseille ( According to a number found on an engine part).
Saint-Exupery died the 31 july 1944. But it seems that the 30 july 1944, one P38 ( or F5) was shot down by the german fighters ( Lt Meredith).
So long.
