NSFK or not?

Post by blurrededge »

Hello,

I recently purchased a porcelain cup and saucer, (canteenware). On the under the saucer is a printed mark, a pair of wings running east-west and intersecting in the centre a propeller blade running north - south.
Saucer dated 1934 which puts it outside Reichswer period but I have other canteen plates dated 1935 with Reichswer 'eagle' on the underside. Is this the NSFK logo?. I would post a picture but I do not know how!.

Thanks in Advance,

Hello,

Some more information to answer my question. A,S.Walker's book 'Flags and banners of the third Reich', page 124, this gives you an idea of the layout but remove the black swastika and radial rings. The wing on the plate are of curved design similar to luftwaffe. The detail on page 124 is from an organsation 'DLV', (Deutsche Luftsportsverband - German airsports organisation). An organisation hardly big enough to warrent its own canteenware?.

Thanks in advance,

Hello Klaus,

Thank you for those pictures, the second one, (DLV), is close but not the same. I will try and find a way to post a picture to explain.

Thanks all the same,

Hello Klaus-Richard,

Hopefully the picture is seen by you. The cup is a tapered type with Reichswehr eagle (in green), it is not the matching cup for the saucer as the foot diameter (about 1 -3/4 inches on the cup) is too small for the saucer recess (2- 1/2 inches).
As you state correctly the saucer is dated 1934. This is earlist Nazi era porcilain that I have but I do have Reichswehr items dated from 1934.

Thanks again,
