It is also very promising that the translation and editing seems to be in very capable hands. A historian I highly respect reviewed the original German edition for a Finnish military journal in the early 1980s. He praised the book a lot.

The book has been out for awhile. I got my copy in yesterday. Hardcover, with "printed-over" laminated hard covers. But looks to be digitally printed, something I find unacceptable for a book this expensive.

The translation seems very good to me and Balck writes in a most engaging way. The other downside is that the ditors/translators interject their PC comments here and there in the notes as Balck's text is no way PC.

So when, oh when, are Paul Hausser's memoirs going to be translated? Seems Schiffer or some similar military publisher should be interested in doing it.

I am really hoping for a translation of Lothar Rendulic's memoirs. And why not Hausser's as well.
