Best book(s) on the North African Campaign?

Post by krichter33 »

I have a number of unit histories (Panzers in the Sand, and Panzer Regiment 8) that I would like to read, but first I would like to read more about the North African campaign. I have read some general overviews in the past, but I haven't read enough. I was wondering if anyone can give me good suggestions of books that deal with this theater. I would prefer the books in English because my German is still not strong enough. I'm interested in books mostly from the German perspective, and I would really be quite thrilled if they were as tactical as possible; dealing with particular units down to the regimental even battalion level if possible. I would be really appreciative if anyone can help me with this task.

PS...Next will be the Italian campaign!

I think the "old" Afrika Korps at War 1 and 2 by George Forty are quite good, especially as they can be bought for a quite decent price. Plus the new Desert war then & now.
