Looking for good books after Stalingrad

Post by Harry64 »

Hi all,

maybe some can help me.

I´m looking for good books about the fighting in the Stalingrad/Don sector shortly before and after the German surrender.

The Book of Antony Beever for the stage before and during Stalingrad.

After the Battle there are just propaganda material.

Servus,
You might try Dana V. Sadarananda BEYOND STALINGRAD. When it first came out it was rather expensive but i believe it is now out in a Stackpole version. I thought it was well done with a lot good information.

Stalingrad: How the Red Army Triumphed by Michael K Jones is a good book to read. Plus I would second the recommendation for the Leaping Horseman books - probably the best books on the subject matter.

Stalingrad - The Death Of The German Sixth Army On The Volga by French Maclean (2 Volumes) - gives a day by day account of the battle. Good for an overview but not in-depth.
