12.SS-Pz.Div. 'Hitlerjugend'

Post by Massimiliano Afiero »

The new book came out of the Waffen SS Division Series, dedicated to the Hitler Youth, the first project of its kind in the Italian language

12.SS-Panzer Division 'Hitlerjugend' Formations of the Waffen SS series
Cultural Association Ritterkreuz

Designed primarily to be committed as a rapid reaction force in France and waiting to repel any invasion from the sea, the SS Division Hitler Youth acquitted his task with great value and determining blocking and blasting the plans of the allies in more than one occasion, offering an energetic and strong resistance to all their attacks and having to give in the end only for a clearly inferior on the ground in men and material. The defensive battles that occurred in Normandy, around the city of Caen, are just one example of the great valor on the field by SS units. After the battles fought on the soil Norman, the division was withdrawn before the French-Belgian border, where he was still engaged in fierce defensive fighting in Germany and then to be reorganized. Followed other difficult and challenging battles during the offensive in the Ardennes, on the front of Bastogne, in Hungary and finally the last battles fought in Austria, directly on the sacred soil of the Reich, where the soldiers of the Hitler Youth, despite the desperate situation and the strong superiority enemy, managed to achieve success and to launch local counterattacks in the last desperate weeks of the war, always and only in name and in defense of their homeland. A unique example of courage, determination and sacrifice.

Looks nice, but I really liked Hubert Meyers account of the 12th SS.

This is a only history of this division in the italian language. The work of Meyer is a very reference book.

But the book in question is not a translation of that of Meyer, but a study totally new and updated above. Did you read or seen?

Yes I noticed that and it looks very good. I was just asking about book translations in general. Not just Meyers.
