Last night I was exchanging e-mails with M.R. when the subject of our personal libraries came up. This got me to thinking that it might be interesting to post some photos of our own military libraries here. To see images of member collections may be more interesting than looking over the long lists that I sometimes see posted. I once knew a retired US Army Special Forces colonel and medical doctor. He told me that he had every book on the German military that had ever been published. That gentleman has since died and I regret not ever having seen a photo of his collection and how it was displayed. I suspect that some members have what amounts to massive rare book collections. Hopefully, other members can post photos of what is on their shelves where the titles can be seen. Possibly there are even some interesting stories that members can tell us about how they acquired some of their books.

Re: Show Us Your Library
I wish I could show off my library, and my many rare books, but 90% of it is in boxes right now, here in the room I rent outside of New York City (I need to update my profile for this site). It took an immense amount of expense and effort to move it all from Colorado to New Jersey!
BTW, I'm not the M.R. John is referring to, unless I'm forgetting something.

Not sure if this works for non-Friendface users but:
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 ... b90cd26f1f
Which is less than 5% of my collection. Probably less than 1%.
and, in non-photo format,
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/Richard.Hargreaves
which is about 1/3 of my collection.

Excellent collection.
I think I know some of those books too.
What are the series of books in black on the left on the second shelf?
And also the books on the bottom left? Schonigh Verlag series?

Bottom left are Deutsche Soldatenjahrbücher from Schild-Verlag, the Black ones are bent-in copies of BA-MA-Files (RH 10/ Historical Division in German plus GD&FHH files for 1945, mostly from the Spaeter Archive)

Aha. That's a lot of BA-MA material.
My files of notes from archives fills an entire room.

Re: Show Us Your Library
Thats why I like it now more in digital form (now about 400,000 pages)....many of the ring binders contain copied/printed out archive files....someday I got to lazy and started organizing it per unit folders on my data server, so any interesting find is in organized form for me avaiable...more practical than the normal paper form

Re: Show Us Your Library
Nice photos everyone. Let's see some more.
Richard - Your collection must be massive. Jost Schneider once told me that his archive took up three rooms in his house. Yours may be even larger!

Cheers John. Fills two rooms. And the hallway. And a bit of the kitchen.

And now a few Endkampf books:
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 ... bbe11dcfb1
You can only see half of them as there's another row hidden behind the front lot.
Oh and the softcovers are not included.

Re: Show Us Your Library
This is my first posting on this forum. I'm the M.R., John was referring to in his beginning post. Attached are some photos showing part of my library. On some of the shelves you will see books from different periods of history not covered by this forum but most are related to this forum.
