A Sentence and a Word.

Post by Landserstudent »

Hello!

I need your input for a sentence and a word from a wartime historic translation. The sentence appears fairly
straightforward but has a couple trick words.

"Es konnte nur 1/4 Stunden geschossen werden wegen anhaltender fdl. Jagdabwehr."

The word I need input on is:

"Eierwaeldchen" (the ae is umlaut a)

Thank you in advance, folks!

I translate it word by word, so you get the meaning of it. But my english is not A+, so you might come up
with an even better translation afterwards.

1. It could be attacked only for a quarter hour because of the ongoing enemy fighter defense.
"Jagdabwehr" assumes that it was most probably airforce, but hard to tell without context,
as Jagdabwehr can also be pretty much everything, airfighters, tank destroyers...

2. Egg-Forest. Nickname for a small forest. I think it goes back to easter celebrations, whent the kids search for painted eggs.
In earlier times you did that not at home but in a park or small forest.

Thank you, Fridgeman! (Ich bedanke mich.)

The 'Eierwaeldchen' had a sort of fairy-tale ring to it. I thought of Easter too. It is from a WWII LW
Observer's recon report, referring to a small 'copse' of woods I think--so far--it is safe to assume.

Thanks too on the sentence. We'll see what still comes in on both.
