I love convoluted sentences

Post by Richard Hargreaves »

Our misfortunate has made the Bolsheviks puff up their chests.

...

and initial successes must be exploited, so now they are attacking on a broad front with vigour, tenacity and in surprising strength.

From Peter Dimt's Flammender Kaukasus; a very good book but a b***ard to translate. :(

The happenings at the advance route* that turned out to be a soviet success, are now evaluated by the the soviets
as an exclusive success of their troops operational readiness

*you cant say from the one sentence what he means, maybe a battle or something connected to support

Hi guys,

here's my take on this little gem:

Our misfortune swelled Bolshevik chests. There's no doubt that they put down what turned into a Soviet success on the march up here solely to the credit of the operational readiness of their troops and initial successes must be exploited, so they are now attacking doggedly along the whole front in surprising numbers.
