Need help with a short sentence.

Post by Richard Hargreaves »

Not sure about the second sentence on this one...

The first thing we realised outside was that we had taken the tiresome chest of drawers and carried it out without thinking. Standing in the street, the thing seemed so light and I'm convinced that the soldier thought so too. :[]

Hello Richard !

My suggestion for the second sentence would be :
Standing on the the street [and after having put down the chest], I felt so light [like a feather],
and I'm firmly convinced that the soldier thought so too.

The text in Square brackets is not literally in the german original, I put it in
to emphasize what might have been the intention of the narrator.

If you ever had the chance to help some friends moving their residence and that friends have
lots of books and have packed their moving boxes filled to the brim with them, you probably know
what he/she is talking about  !

Best regards,
hero.
