According to message from 10.12.1939: 5th company M.T. Replacement Battalion 6 (place=Dortmund) ~M.T. means motor transport

According to message from september 1944: Divisional Administration Company 254

On 17.03.1945: 2nd company Grenadier regiment 474 = fieldpost number 59012C
The units were attached to the 254th Infantry Division - see appendix

Place of death:
17.03.1945 near Kosenthal Krs. Cosen/OS

Our douments do not contain the data (place), where he found his final resting place

*******

Cosen seems to be a place about 150km. above Dresden. Kosenthal may the name which was used during wartime. I don't know about the other abbreviations such as 'Krs.' and '/OS'. Perhaps someone else might know that. I hope you find it usefull.

Best Regards,
Laurens

HI,
Krs. could be the abbrevation for Kreis. Means County.

Hi,

Thanks for the translation! It helps a bunch. Received the info on my relative through Deutsche Dienstelle. They sent me a divisional and regimental summary. I will post the divisional summary for translation. Again, thanks for everyone's help! I want to do more research concerning the battle in which he died. I have two more items on the list that I need help with translating if anyone can help. It would be greatly apprecieated.
Best regards,
John

OS = Oberschlesien (Upper Silesia), a former German Region in South-West Poland. Some small parts west of River Neisse do belong to the German Bundesland (State) Sachsen (Saxony).

Correction to what I wrote above:

Upper Silesia now belongs completely to Poland. The still German parts west of River Neisse were of Lower Silesia.

Sorry for that!
