Post by sandyangus »

had a cousin who fought at the Battle of Stalingrad, was seriosly wounded (lost a leg), was evacuated, survived the war and lived near karlsruhe till died 1980's

Im trying to find out about his service but only have his name

First name rname: Rudolf or Rudolph

Surname: Born

I want to follow him to Stalingrad and back and his service before that. I assume that I need to know unit and ID#??

Can anyone help?

Hello

best way would be this: https://www.dd-wast.de/en/tracing-reque ... earch.html
It will cost some money and will take some time, but then u know the career of him.
Yours sincerely

As a family relative this is probably the best route and won't be that expensive.

Good luck!
