searching: Fähnrich in the Kriegsmarine from Aalborg

Post by joergensbye »

Hello

I am looking for my grandad who was a german soldier in the Kriegsmarine and often in Denmark.

Unfortunately I don´t have a name or fieldpostnumber or anything else

He was a "Fähnrich zur See" as seen from the uniform
He often came to Århus, Denmark
He was definately in Aarhus in december 1944 and have been there several times before
He came in, at least one, private home in Århus
He had the Kriegsabzeichen für minensuch-, U-Boots-, Jagd- und Sicherungsverbände
Maybe he came from Düsseldorf - I have a picture/postcard from "Photo - Wilke, Düsseldorf Ackerstr. 23"
He survived the war- I know this because he contacted my grandmother after the war because he wanted to see his daughter (my mother) but my grandmother refused to have anything to do with him.

I have made a small collage
The young man marked with a "X" is my grandfather
Three other persons are found on the pictures and my grandmother.

1. young sailer, probably from the same boat as mr. X
2. cicil with a small swastica pin. He is a sønderjyde (from southern Jutland) according to a familymember
3. female
4. female
One of the women is probably Traudel

I post here to spread the word (and because there still seems to be german weterans around in this forum)
I have posted on:
Forum der Wehrmacht (german)
4045 (danish)
krigsbørn (danish site for children of war)

I am compiling a list (with a lot of help from the danish forum) of vessels present in Aarhus havn in nov - dec 1944

cheers
Helle

I guess he was from Crew X/43?
It seems that it took one year to be promoted to Fährich zur See. Then it took a few months (at the end of the war) to be promoted to Ober Fährich zur See. Therefore he must be from Crew X/43.

Any help on this crew - group photos, names etc. is appreciated.

Ps. I have just ordered the book about Crew X/43 - I hope to find something interesting there.

Kind regards
Helle

Er kam wahrscheinlich von einer diesen Crews
Crew XII/42: promoted Fähnrich in 12.1943 – promoted Oberfähnrich in 12.1944
Crew IV/43: promoted Fähnrich in 4.1944 – promoted Oberfähnrich in 4.45
Crew VII/43: promoted Fähnrich between 7. and 9.1944
Crew X/43: promoted Fähnrich between 10. and 12.1944

Crew
Crew XII/42: 830 Männer
Crew IV/43: 300
Crew VII/43: 1050
Crew X/43: 1200

venlig hilsen
Helle
