Dear Friends,
My wife is trying to find information about her late father, Johannes G.M. Bade wih joined the German Army in 1925 and was discharged in 1945. He was seemingly an Oberzahlmeister (pay Master) in the Sixth Infantry Regiment. Family stories tell of him being on his way to join Rommel in North Africa when his plane was shot down over Greece and he was hospitalized in Saloniki; from there he went back to Germany and was sent to the Eastern Front (Leningrad) where he was wounded in an eye. He entered a military hospital in Hamburg in January 1945 and was released in April 1945. We was sent to the English POW camp at Rendsburg, Schleswig Holstein. I realize a lot of time and history have passed since the war ended but perhaps someone remembered him; stranger things have probably happened. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Russ
