Odd Berle Christiansen - Norway

Post by Regiment Norge »

Today I got the news that the former SS-Rottenführer Odd Berle CHRISTIANSEN died at the hospital on November 19, 2008 at 08:00 in the morning.

Odd joined the Regiment Nordland in January 1941 and left for training at Sennheim on februar 5, 1941. At the Tr.Üb.Pl Heuberg he was incorporated into the 2./SS-Germania. He participated in the battles with WIKING from 29.06.1941. He stayed with the 2./Germania all the way until he was severely wounded in October 1942 in the Malgobek fighting in the Caucasus area who disabled him 70% the rest of his life.

In the heavy fighting for the Kuban bridgehead in the summer of 1942 the Kp.Fhr of the 1./Germania - Hstuf. Hans Dorr heald a bridgehead over the river with his company, and when reinforcement arrived Dorr personally greated every soldier arriving by shaking their hand saying thanks with tears in his eyes.

In the summer of 1942 Odd was selected to be transferred to the 1 Vorbereitungslehrgang für germanische Freiwillige at Junkerschule Tölz, who in 1943 became the 9. Kriegs-Junker-Lehrgang, but the Btl-Kdr Stubaf. August Diekmann could not let him go, saying to Odd that he needed some experienced soldiers in the fighting ahead.
