Prohibition?

Prohibition?

Post by Commissar D, the Evil »

Was there ever a prohibition in the Whermacht from wearing a Nazi Party badge on a soldier's tunic?

As I understand it, the badge of membership in the Nazi party was not a formal decoration recognized as appropriate for a Whermacht uniform and I am interested in what the regulations said on this issue. Oh, and it would help me greatly if someone posted some examples of official Nazi Party membership badges.

This is sheer research and not intended to be provocative in any way.

The Golden Party Badge, which was of course an award, was certainly worn on military tunics. One also sees ordinary HJ membership badges worn but I cannot recall a photo of a Wehrmacht soldier, sailor or airman wearing the NSDAP membership badge. Nor, for that matter, do I remember seeing it worn by Waffen-SS soldiers.

badges

Post by haen2 »

Funny that this subject would come up.
When I got my first "sunday go to meeting unfiorm", I asked the Spiess if I were allowed to wear my HJ Schiess abzeigen and HJ Leistungs abzeigen on my uniform.
Th answer was: Anything you EARNED in the party or part thereof may be worn on your RIGHT breast pocket.
So I did.
Had completely forgotten about that :(

Hi HaEn and Rudi, thanks to both of you for your contributions.

HaEn, do you think that Heer regulations differed from S.S. regulations on this issue? I'm just trying to establish the likelihood that a member of a Heer panzer division might wear a party badge or decoration on his uniform.

David

That actually wouldn't be surprising, David, as the SS was a Party organization originally. Wouldn't they be more likely to allow political badges?

Regulations

Post by haen2 »

Hi David,
Naturally, I don't know much about the Heer regulations; however, I got a scanned copy of the Reibert, and will look through it.
It also came to mind that we had a guy running around with a Hitler Youth leaders pin on his right breast pocket.
Perhaps we were a "freak" outfit. :(
Rudy, Gerhard ? what do you think.
