Hello to all :D; more..................................

Wilhelm Behrens (August 23rd, 1888 - Berlin/Prussia - August 15th, 1968 Lotte/Lower Saxony).

Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross awarded as Oberst and Kommandeur, Infanterie-Regiment 106, 15. Infanterie-Division on March 27th, 1942 for:

“Oberst Behrens and his ragtag of forces defended the city of Iklinskoje (located west of the Nara river) against enemy breakthrough attempts during the crucial days immediately before and during the withdrawal movement of the Armee’s centre from the Nara Position. They fought with nerves of steel and managed to prevent a major crisis. At this time the Armee was already extremely threatened by an envelopment and breakthrough on its southern flank. If the enemy had also succeeded in breaking through at Iklinskoje then the entire withdrawal movement of the Armee’s centre would have been jeopardized. The prevention of an enemy breakthrough at Iklinskoje was therefore of significant operational importance.”

Hello to all :D; more..................................

Hugo Schimmel, (November 22, 1914 Harburg an der Isar/Bavaria - October 17, 1999 Uffing am Staffelsee/Bavaria).

Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross awarded as Hauptmann and Kommandeur, III. Bataillon, Infanterie-Regiment (motorisiert) 41, 10. Infanterie-Division, 23 January 1942 for his achievements during the capture of Jefremow by his Regiment.

He distinguished himself in particular during the fighting in and around the city on November 20, 1941. At around 2:30 p.m. on this day, he and his battalion crushed a Soviet battalion that had just detrained at Jefremow. Thereafter, they repulsed a Soviet attack on the train station (supported by tanks and flamethrowers) and seized control of the town's rubber factory.

From August 1, 1944 Major Schimmel was in charge of the Panzergrenadier Regiment "Großdeutschland" for a short time, as the regiment commander Oberst Karl Lorenz was ordered to attend the 13th Commanders Course in Hirschberg/Silesia.

Hello to all :D; more..................................

Otto Stampfer (January 13, 1913 Saag/Wels (Danube), Austria-Hungary - February 5, 1945 Trbia (near Brno), Czech Republic).

Decorated as Hauptmann and Führer III. / Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 136 / 2.Gebirgs-Division on July 23, 1942.

Below follows a divisional order describing Hauptmann Stampfer's career and the events that led to his receipt of the Knight's Cross...

"2. Gebirgs - Division, 07/26/1942

The Führer and Supreme Commander of the Wehrmacht has awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross to Hauptmann Stampfer, Kommandeur III./Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 136.

"It is a great pleasure for me to congratulate this excellent and seasoned officer on behalf of the entire 2. Gebirgs-Division.

In the summer of last year, Hauptmann Stampfer led his 12th Company with courage and caution. Despite heavy losses suffered on the Bolischaja Liza field, the unit was able to storm Hill 200 in a brave attack a few days later.

After Hauptmann Stampfer assumed leadership of III./Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 136 in April 1942, he was attached to Kampfgruppe Penanen with the aim of seizing a Soviet camp in the Luttojoki area. With an exemplary spirit of attack, the Bataillon captured the heavily fortified camp under the personal leadership of its commander. In the process they captured 41 battle positions/bunkers and annihilated a company of elite Soviet troops to the last man.

After a short rest, the Battalion was re-employed at the end of April. Acting as part of the Gruppe Hofmeister, he played a key role in the elimination of the Russian 4th and 6th Reindeer Ski Brigades.

The award of the highest German war medal is well-deserved recognition of the outstanding achievements that the Hauptmann Stampfer has achieved on behalf of the German people. But this applies equally to all members of the brave III./Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 136.

The division is proud of its youngest Knight's Cross bearer, who is the division's fifth soldier to receive the award."

Hello to all :D; more..................................

Gustav Waldemar Klaus Feldt (April 14th, 1912 Kiel - September 7th, 2010 Wiesbaden/Hesse).

Awarded the Knight’s Cross on April 25th, 1941 as Oberleutnant zur See and Kommandant, "S 30", 2. Schnellbootsflottille for:

“Oberleutnant Feldt especially distinguished himself during the Norwegian campaign. During later operations as an S-Boat commander he sunk an enemy destroyer and four armed merchant ships with a total of 6100 GRT. He demonstrated very good seamanship during numerous operations, and has mastered even the most difficult of situations through his cold-bloodedness. As the acting commander of a Schnellbootsflottille he and his formation sank a total of 13000 GRT worth of shipping during a sally against the southern English coast. This success is to Feldt’s credit in particular.”

Later Feldt would would receive the Oakleaves on January 1st, 1944 as Korvettenkapitän and Chef, 2. Schnellbootsflottille.

Hello to all :D; more..................................

Erich Fellmann (April 20, 1915 Luckenwalde/Prussia - January 14, 2004 (Weil im Schönbuch/Baden-Württemberg).

Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross awarded on April 6, 1943 as Hauptmann and Kommandeur II. / Grenadier Regiment 409 / 122. Infantry Division by:

Hauptmann Fellmann... played an important role in the successful attack south of Lake Ilmen that took place on 30.03.1943. That day, the 409th Grenadier Regiment launched an attack on the village of Penna. In the combat that followed, the II. Battalion overwhelmed a strong enemy position, reached the edge of the village at 07:10 and had made contact with the northern group of the 5. Jäger Division by 09:25.

During this attack, Hauptmann Fellmann personally led the battalion's 6. Company. With this unit he toured the Russian line further south and captured about 40 prisoners. After the ordered attack target was reached at 06:00, Hauptmann Fellmann swept the Penna ravine from east to west on its own initiative. Bunker after bunker was captured and, by 15:00, Penna was firmly in German hands. This attack drove the Soviets back from the Staraya-Russa-Cholm highway.
