Oberst Walter Rolin

Hello,

I'm looking for infos about Oberst Walter Rolin.

He was Führer of 389.Inf.Div. in march-april 1945.

Any help is welcome ! :wink:

Hello Morgan!

According to the following website, http://www.389id.de/ , Oberst Walter Rolin was not the commander of the 389. ID, indicating that he as mistakenly been identified as such...

That website isn't completely accurate. It lists Paul Herbert Forster as a commander of 389. ID, who didn't exist. There's a post on AHF about it. He isn't listed in Keilig or Bradley. Apparently Dr. Mitcham came up with the name somewhere. However, Mehner does list Obst. Rolin.

Later information from Panzer Archiv indicates Obst. Rolin may have commanded 549. VGD instead in April 1945. Unfortunately the link to his posting ro 549. VG is no longer operative, just thlink to a HPA document of his transfer from the (unspecified) division with effect 20-4-5. The person who posted it said in his message that Rrolin was assigned to 549. VG.
