Hauptmann Wolfgang Falck, Staffelkapitän of the 2. / ZG 76.

Over Poland in 1939 the future experte of the German night fighters, Oberleutnant Wolfgang Falck scored three victories.

Fighting over the German Bight.

The first Messerschmitt Bf 110 to join the action was the one of Wolfgang Falck, Staffelkapitän of the 2. / ZG 76 with his numeral Uffz Fresia. Falck claimed two bombers but in turn was hit by defensive fire and with one engine stopped and the other failing had to make an emergency landing on the island of Wangerooge. Heinz Fresia also shot down two Wellingtons.

Eventually some of them (victories) were dropped by the Luftwaffe High Command, including three of the I. / ZG 76 (the second of Falck, one of Lent and the one claimed by Gordon Gollob).

One more - Oberfeldwebel Magnus Brunkhorst of 9./JG 2 Richtofen who won the EK II & I during the Battle Of Britain. Apparantly there are photos in existence of him so if anyone knows of any they could share (purely for my private files for his citations) I'd be grateful.

Someone belonging to the I./ JG 76.

Oberleutnant Franz Eckerle.

At the outbreak of World War 2, Eckerle was Staffelkapitän of the 3./JG 76. He participated in the invasion of Poland but had to wait until the French campaign to confirm his first victory, when he shot down a RAF Spitfire fighter on 15 May 1940. The 3./JG 76 was redesignated as the 6./JG 54 on 4 July 1940. The unit became a fighter-bomber unit for the Battle of Britain but Eckerle still managed to record three additional aerial victories.

Hello to all :D; something more..................

Here two pilots of I./ St G 76.

Hauptmann Walter Sigel led his group in the tragic demonstration over Neuhammer, which was at 137 metres elevation, with 7/10 cloudy above 900 metres; but suddenly developed a ground mist and during the diving 13 Stukas with 26 crew members crashed without survivors. Eleven Stukas went straight in, while two hit the ground during pull-out. The other pilot shown here Oberleutnant Peltz, who led the 1. Staffel broke the diving and returned safely with all his crews.

At the very start of WW II on Sep 01 1939 this Group led by Hauptmann Sigel bombed Wielun.
