German Generals of WWII - Seniority List ??

Post by Shadow »

Greetings Troops !! :D

Do any of you know where I can go (other than Germany) to find the definitive seniority list of the Generale der Heeres during the period 01 Sept. 1939 to the end of the war ??

I've have Wolf Keilig's 'Das Deutsche Heer', but this is sometimes at odds with data from such sources as: Lexicon der Wehrmacht, Axis Biographical Research, Feldgrau etc........ and various other sources such as "German Order of Battle - Three Volumes" by Mitcham and other books I have.

Any assistance with this question is gratefully appreciated !!

As of right now - I'm stumped !!

Best regards,

O.K. !! :(

Then can someone explain to me what the difference is (in the seniority scale) of being "promoted" on "xyz" date and then having that promotion made "mit Wirkung" and then having that promotion date granted "Rangdienstalter [RDA]" (Rank & Seniority?)??

In other words, which date is the one that denotes an officer's seniority as compared to other officers of the same rank ...... who salutes whom??

All information, on this subject, gratefully accepted.

Best regards,

Hey Shadow,

I'm not really into seniority issues, however, I believe that the promotion date is the date of the promotion being made while the "m.W." date is the seniority date. If there is no "m.W." date then the man's seniority is based on the promotion date....I think ! :D
