Hy guys,
I was wondering if someone can explain me how a former officer of ordnung polizei became an excellent division commander who won the famous Battle of Cholm after being surrounded for 55 days by soviets.
Thank you in advance
Zezio

Hi,

The way through the Ordnungspolizei was caused by the German 100,000-men-army (a frequent military career).

Scherer was Hauptmann in World War I and had a General Staff education.

Servus,
Reading Scherer's biography, I get the impression that Schoerner relieved Scherer or something to that efect. Is this so, and if so why? I cannot believe that at that stage of the war schoerner, or any other commander could have stated that he had no use for a general and his staff.

Regards,

Helmut

Thanks
