SS-Obersturmbannführer Dr.Ing.Wim Brandt

Hi to all.

As far as I know, the former CO of the AA SS VT (later Das Reich) SS-Obersturmbannführer Dr.Ing.Wim Brandt took over as CO of SS-Infanterie-Regiment 11(SS Das Reich) on 01.12.40 and was KIA on 13.07.41 in Russia, could someone tell me when, where and how he was killed. This comes from Das Reich II pg 294. He was killed when he and his staff where caught by tree bursts from Artillery. It says bombs but I think it was artillery. On 13 July 41

Looks like the location was a town called GORKI.

Not only Brandt was killed but his Regimental Surgeon as well Hstuf. Schmidt. The rest of the staff was seriously wounded.

Then next day it references Stubaf. Muhlenkamp but does not clearly state he is Brandts replacement. Only that the SS Recon Bn under him has to recon past Gorki.
