Hello to all

; tying up the dots...............
Hans Christoph Alfred Carl Max von Carlowitz-Hartitzsch.
Regarding the elusive Hptm. von Carlowitz-Hartitzsch:
First mentioned as zugführer (Platoon ldr) in the 7./ PR 3 1939. Then with the Schwere Panzer Abteilung 505 when its CO, Maj. Sauvant (February - August 13, 1943), while in the positions of the 6th Infantry Division, was injured by a splinter in the knee and was evacuated. Therefore the HQ of the 9th Army appointed Hptm. von Carlowitz-Hartitzsch (August 14 - mid-September?) as CO until the arrival of the new commander.
It also happened that before the s. Pz Abt 505 was transferred to the Smolensk area, on September 15, 1943 the unit commander was killed by a sniper in the Devochkino sector. Therefore it would be logical to think that Hptm. von Carlowitz-Hartitzsch was killed in action that September 15 and was replaced by Oberleutnant Majuntke (1. Company).
However, searching around there I found that Carlowitz-Hartitzsch, Hans-Christoph von; Major i.G., was Ib 116. Pz.Div u. 2. Pz.Div. (*13.01.1917) therefore this officer did not fall at the hands of the sniper but another.........
So he actually survived the war.
