I believe this is another way of referring to the 553. Volksgrenadier-Division, commanded by General Hüter in January, 1945.
I expect you're aware of the division's assault crossing of the Rhein and seizure of the area around Herrlisheim, Alsace (and the subsequent battles with three US divisions).
Tessin missed the division's service under the XIV SS AK -- he mentions the unit being rebuilt as part of the Ersatzheer from January to March 1945. Mitcham states the unit was part of the Heeresgruppe G reserve in March 1945, and that it ended the war in the southern part of Germany (no great relevation, huh?). Apparently, the commander of the division during the Alsace fighting was Oberst Erich Löhr, whom Mitcham states was court-martialed for having failed to take Strasbourg. Hüter was his successor.
Here's one small nugget. Vol V, Part III, of Les Grandes Unités Françaises, mentions the 553. in the general area of Eppingen and Sulzfeld (vicinity Pforzheim) on 5 April 1945. Unfortunately, there is no electronic version of this work to search on references to the 553.

I have seen a gliederung of Division 'Hueter', undated, but probably from the time you're interested in. II/Panzer Regt. 2 (16PD) was under command.
