Hi,
Please I would like to identify the German unit which fought against French underground units on 25 August 1944 in Ecueillé (central France, South-Est of Tours). It seems during the withdrawal of this unit towards Belfort gap.
After the battle, French soldiers found 3 ou 4 Pak 88 mm artillerie.
We can exchange information on both sides.
Thank you
Regards
Philippe

Hello,Philippe.
i did'nt know which units were at Ecueillé on the 25th of august 1944,
All what I read it was an artillery convoy, maybe that the unit(s) belonged to the "Colonne Elster" but I am not sure at all.
Have a look over here:

Kindly regards from Belgium

Thank you so much Prosper.

You provided me an excellent source of information concerning the Colonne Elster which entered in Indre are end of the Aougust 1944. I lived 10 years in Issoudun and the city keep the memory of that surrender. The study you kindly sent me gives a very good light of these events. I see that Ecueillé is rather Norther if we compare with ways followed by Gerneral Elster units during the first week of September 1994. It looks like this colum came from Tours (river Loire) .. That's only a supposition !
Thank you so much from France !
Philippe
