92 Infantry Division

Post by carrera73rs »

Hello all,
I just received word from the WASt that my Uncle was with the 12 Kompanie 1059 Grenadier-Regiment 92 Infantry Division and was captured 4 June 1944 in Rome.
Does anyone have any information on who this Unit/Division may have been facing or where I could find it, Google has not been my friend so far?
Thank you
Kirk

All what I found is over here:
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... GR1059.htm
and click further on 362 Infanterie Division
You have also a book about the 362 I.D.:
Kampf um Rom - Inferno am Po. Der Weg der 362. Infanterie-Division 1944/45 - Heinz Greiner, Kurt Vowinckel Verlag, Neckargemünd 1968
Sorry for my poor english
Kindly regards from belgium

If your main interest is focused on the fighting and who your uncle's regiment/division was facing in battle, then here is a bibliography of 73 titles dealing with the Italian Campaign 1943-45. You should be able to find at least a dozen among them that cover the March-June 1944 period around the Rome area.
