h.Fla.Btl.607 was attached to 19th army during 1944-45. it appears to be a self-propelled unit consisting of 3 Kp., each with 12, 2cm fla. guns.
Is the correct KSTN for this type of unit, 192 ? What about the Btl.HQ ?
thanks,

Re: h.Fla.Btl.607
Hello MadDog,
I think it existed with 3 kompanies until June 1943 when it conceded its 2nd Kompanie to the formation of Fla-Bataillon 615.
Regards,
Simon.

Re: h.Fla.Btl.607
Hello Mad Dog and Simon !
According to Tessin, Fla-Btl. 607, on 15.7.42 received a 4th company by the
incorporation of 5./Fla-Btl. 55. (A Krgl. dated 15.8.42 (T78 R404 F6374841) confirms this.)
After the 2nd company was transferred to Fla-Btl. 615 on 5.5.43, this 4th company was
redesignated to 2nd company on 18.6.43.
However other Krgl., from spring/summer 1943 [T78 R405 F6375379,78,77], show that much more must
have happened. An exchange of personnel, weapons and vehicles took place, after which Fla-Btl. 615
was equipped with 4 companies of 2cm Flak (Sfl.) and 607 ought to be equipped with 3 companies
of 2 cm Flak (mot.Z.) [T78 R405 F6375377].
A possible explanation can be found here :
http://www.forum-der-wehrmacht.de/threa ... post214147
The personnel of Fla-Btl. 607 left its equipment (including drivers) in the east, where it was
taken over by the personnel of Fla-Btl. 615. In exchange, the personnel of Fla-Btl. 607 was transferred
to France, where it used the equipment etc. left behind by 615, that provided air protection in different
places in western France. The Stab (HQ section) of Fla-Btl. 607 was located near Biarritz, where it was
used to form an anti-air-attack-school (Flugabwehrschule).
I do not know whether Fla-Btl. 607 changed its equipment to self propelled guns later on.
According to this Gliederung of LXXXVI. AK., it was still (mot) on D-Day :

@MadDog : Is there any Gliederung available after June 1944, which would clear up that matter ?
----------------
KStN :
The HQ section of such a Fla-Btl. should be organized according to KStN 123 (1.4.44), which is available
under T78 R391, H1/4, F6359476. Strength : 5 Offc./ 3 Officials/ 13 NCOs / 47 EM
The companies of the battalion (depending whether it was equipped with Sfl. or mot.Z) could be
organized according to KStN 192 (1.4.44), as Mad Dog suggested, or similar to KStN 191, Geb.Fla.Kp.,
1.4.44, but without a Bergstaffel [T78 R391, H1/5, F6359724].
When you compare the strength of both types of units, they are almost identical :
individual Fla-Kp. (KStN 192) with 12- 2cm Flak-guns (Sfl.) : 2 Offc./ - / 34 NCOs / 112 EM
while the corresponding Geb.Fla.-Kp. (KStN 191) would have 1 EM less in the signals section.
However, when part of an battalion, each of the above companies would be stripped
of 1 NCO and 2 E.M. (and 1 truck) in the Kfz.-Inst.Trupp, probably because their tasks were
conducted by the Inst.-Staffel of the Btl.-HQ.
Best regards,
hero.

Re: h.Fla.Btl.607
Another good catch, Hero. While the gliedering of 1st Army for July, 1943 shows the unit as self-propelled, the unit symbol for September 1944 while part of 19th army is motorized. I didnt pick up on that before.

Mad Dog
