The account in my book is based on three main sources:
Spaeter's history of Grossdeutschland, Vol 2
Dieckert & Grossmann's Kampf um Ostpreussen
Plato's 5 Pz Div.
Between them, they give a good account of the entire Goldap-Gumbinnen operation.

Re: FGB prior to Goldap
I was wondering why Martins reply showed the II Bn listing m.SPW's as by rights it should have been a truck borne unit. Your statement about them being "lavishly equipt" explaines it. You also mention a 3rd Bn equipt with cars yet it is not mentioned during the battle!
Does anyone know if the StuG's and PzJgr IV's were parceled out to the PzGdr Bn's during the battle, or did they stay with the Pz Bn?
