Hi, Laurence Strong, on June 1 1944, both 4 and 5 Pz division 's I abteilung ( Panther) were missing. 5. Pz division received its panther abteilung on June 8 1944 with 79 Panther and 4 Pz recieved its Panther abteilung in mid June 1944. So at the end of June, there were much stronger than in early June.

From June 13 onwards, the Panzerkorps was no longer part of the 2. Armee (HGr. Mitte), because it was transfered to the 4. Panzerarmee (HGr. Nordukraine).
As you can see above, it formed a considerable fighting force, even if it did not have large quantities of Panther tanks (the II. Panzer-Abteilungen of the 4. and 5. Panz.Div. were equipped with Panzer IV's)
Hi, Piet, according to your writing format, did 505 schwere Panzer abteilung was tactically attached to 5 Pz division and 655 schwere panzerjager abteilung and 237 StuG brgiade also attached to 253 infantry division on that day ?

Hi, Piet, thank, if based upon monthly report, 4 Pz divison was the strongest panzer divison in the East. 69 operational Pz IV, 7 combat ready Pz III and 46 ready for action Pak ( sfl) ( Marder ? ). but I don't know why she had so many Marder or Pak (sfl) in one single divisoin.

HI, Piet, do you know what troop formed XXIV panzerkorps ? Apart from LVI Panzerkorps, III Panzerkorps also had a large number of troops including, 1 ,7, 8, 16 and 17.Panzer divisions. I only find Panzerjager abteilung 653 in XXIV Panzerkorps in June 1944.

I am not sure that III Panzerkorps was actually in command of 6th, 7th and 17th Panzer and 20th Pz Gren Divs
on 1 June 1944. The 15-5-44 OKH schematische Kriegsgliederung shows the Korps HQ and these divisions in 1st Panzer Army Reserve. The 15.6.44 schem. Kgl. shows the Corps HQ and 1st, 7th, 8th and 17th Pander and 20th Pz Gren still there.

For XXIV. Panzerkorps I have according to the 15.5 and 15.6 schem. Kgl.only Kgr. 75 ID, 100. JD, and 371. ID

Your knowledge of other authoritative O/Bs for this period would be valuable to me.

Best,
Bill in Cleveland
