Looking for info on this unit during the Invasion Of Denmark. Any information about this campaign would be appreciated; little if anything beyond a few sentences is mentioned of it during the Norwegian Campaign.
Thanks,
AHK

Hello AHK:
The 198ID played a large role in the invasion of Denmark. See if you can find a copy of Zwischen Kattegat und Kaukasus: Weg und Kämpfe der 198. Infanterie-Division for details of their operations. Good luck and best wishes.

Hello AHK,

I don't know if this is more than you already have on the 11. Motorized Brigade (11. Schützen-Brigade):

From the divisional - history of the 11. PzD (Donnhauser, Anton; Der Weg der 11. PzD) :
>> On the beginning of april 1940, the brigade assembled in the Lüneburger Heide for brigade-exercises. The 11.Sch.Brig. was then assigned to the Höhere Kommando XXXI and reinforced by 1.(gem.) Pz.Abt. z.b.V. 40 and MG-Btl. 4 (mot). […]

Weserübung Süd (occupation of Denmark) then started on 9. April 1940 with the crossing of the border at 5:00 a.m. The order was :
"Reinforced 11. Sch.Brig. (mot) is to advance via RIBE - HERNING - VIBORG to AALBORG; AALBORG is to be taken on the 9. april,
the important air base AALBORG is to secure before the morning of 10. april, by the subordinated 1./Flak 19. -
On 10. april, parts of the Brigade will attack FREDERIKSHAVEN, SKAGEN and HIRSHALS (cable-connection to England)."

After a few hours the Danish troops received the order to seize fire from its own high command; therefore the occupation of Jütland was achieved within 24 hours. The 11. Schützenbrigade secured North-Jütland with Brig.-Stab and Sch.Rgt 110 in AALBORG and Sch.Rgt. 111 in TISTED. Already
a few days later, the reinforcement units were 'dismissed' ('herausgelöst', don't know the exact translation), and the units of the 11. Sch.Brig.
were replaced by units of the 160. Inf.Div.

From 24. april on, the 11. Sch.Brig. began to march back into the area of HANNOVER for rest and refit, which starts directly with the arrival. <<

It seems that the 198. Inf.Div. played a major part in occupying the main islands (look here e.g.
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... /198ID.htm ),
while the 11. Sch.Brig. and the 170. Inf.Div secured the continental part of Denmark.

I also found a link on the occupation of Denmark http://www.milhist.dk/besattelsen/9april/9april.html ,
which might be interesting, but on first glance the details of units and the numbers involved (e.g. of tanks) that are given, have to be
taken with some care. ( Perhaps you can compare the OOB with the one from the site of Leo Niehorster
http://niehorster.orbat.com/011_germany ... ps_31.html .)

I hope this helps somehow, (my first post on this forum),
best regards,
hero.
