KStN 1114a/b/c - Summer 1944

Post by Tanker Mike »

Hello,

In the summer of 1944, three KStNs were created for a Panzergrenadier-Kompanie(gp)(fG). 1114a in July 1944 plus 1114b and c in August 1944. I think I am correct in saying 1114a was used for the 2.Panzer-Divsion (9-Panzer-Divsion too?) for the Wacht Am Rhein offensive. When, if ever, were the other two, 1114b/c used?

Thanks,
Mike

Hello

1114c was used for the Panzergrenadiere (armoured). The a and b variants, like the d variant are variants using one (a), two (b) or three (d) Platoons with 6 x 251/21 Drillinge AA mounts. They are connected to the Panzer-Brigaden phenomen. They also differ by date, 1114 b dated 1.11.44 was a Co on bikes. In case of the 2nd Panzer, the use of 1114c dated 1.7.44 for Wacht am Rhein can be confirmed on documents issued by the division. Some other divisions used earlier variants.

Cheers

I'd always assumed that was the case with the other variants but never had it confirmed. Thanks for the info.
