Beda Fomm

Post by noworld » Thu Jan 11, 2007 5:29 pm

Hi, All,

I'm new to the forums here and this is my first post.

I'vwe been looking for an OOB for the Italian 10th Army at Beda Fomm, and what equipment was historically fielded there. I've been searching for a while but can't seem to find any specifics.

Thanks,

Nick

Thanks! I had been on the commando supremo site, but I didn't realize they had a forum. That's what I was looking for.

Thanks again,

Nick

SOME INFORMATION

Post by Ron Klages » Tue Jan 16, 2007 2:26 pm

NICK,

NOT MY AREA OF RESEARCH BUT I WENT THROUGH SOME BOOKS IN MY LIBRARY AND HERE IS WHAT I COULD FIND ON BEDA FOMM.

THE ITALIAN 10. ARMY WAS STRETCHED OUT SOME 32 KILOMETERS ON THE VIA BALBIA HEADING SOUTH TOWARD SIDI SALEH WHEN THEY WERE MET BY A BRITISH ROADBLOCK NEAR BEDA FOMM. THE LEADING ITALIAN FORCE WAS THE BABINI ARMORED BRIGADE WITH AROUND 30 TANKS ON 6 FEBRUARY 1941. I SHOULD NOTE THAT ON 23 JANUARY 1941 THE BABINI ARMORED BRIGADE HAD [57 ] M13S AND [25] LIGHT TANKS.

FOLLOWING THE BABINI ARMORED BRIGADE WAS A BATTALION FROM THE 10. BERSAGLIERI REGIMENT AND SOME ARTLLERY.

AFTER ENGAGING FOR TWO DAYS THE ITALIANS WERE DEFEATED AND THE ENTIRE 10. ITALIAN ARMY SURRENDERED.

THE OOB FOR THE 10. ITALIAN ARMY ON2 DECEMBER 1940 WAS:

I. SECTOR (SIDI EL BARRANI) CMDR. GEN GALLINA
---HQ. LIBYAN DIVISIONAL GROUP
---1. LIBYAN DIVISION
---2. LIBYAN DIVISION
---1. BLACKSHIRT DIVISION 23 MARZO
---4. BLACKSHIRT DIVISION 3 GENNIO

II. SECTOR (BUQ BUQ) CMDR. GEN SPATOCCO
---HQ 21. ARMY CORPS
---MALETTI LIBYAN GROUP
---63. CIRENE DIVISION
---64. CATANZARO DIVISION

III. SECTOR (SOLLUM) CMDR. GEN BERGONZOLI
---HQ 23. ARMY CORPS
---62. MARMARICA DIVISION
---2. BLACKSHIRT DIVISION 28 OTTOBRE

UNDER MARSHAL GRAZIANI'S DIRECT ORDERS
---HQ 22. ARMY CORPS
---61. SIRTE DIVISION
---60. SABRATHA DIVISION
---BABINI ARMORED BRIGADE
---ARTILLERY OF HQ

THAT IS ALL OF THE DETAIL I COULD FIND.

I HOPE THIS HELPS.

BEST REGARDS,

RON KLAGES
