Hi,

I have just obtained a waffenrock which had the following stamp in it

I have tried to do some research myself before asking here and only found artillery regiment 110..

Maybe someone can help me in finding more info on 3RD CO. 110 REGIMENT.

Hello Eric/Historicus!

What about the Infanterie-Regiment 110 of the 33. Infanterie-Division...?

IR 110

Post by Doug Nash »

On 9 Dec. 1940, IR 110 was taken out from under the 33.Inf.Div. and assigned to the 112.Inf.Div. I Bataillon was stationed originally in Heidelberg at the Grossdeutschland Kaserne in 1936 (where I was stationed from 1998 to 2001), so 3. Kompanie would have been there. The regiment was disbanded on 2 Nov. 1943 and used to form the foundation of Regiment-Gruppe 110 of Divisions-Gruppe 112. On 2 March 1944, Regt.Gr.110 became II/Gren.Rgt. 110 and was assigned to the 88.Inf.Div.
Hope this helps --
Doug

Excellent article - I was acquainted with the commander of Regiments-Gruppe 110, Hauptmann Ernst Schenk, who had been with the regiment before and after it had been reorganized as a battalion as part of Divisions-Gruppe 112 shortly before the Battle of the Cherkassy Pocket. He had begun his pre-war career in Heidelberg as a platoon leader in the I. Bataillon. He has since passed away, but he provided me with a great deal of information when I was writing my book about the battle, "Hell's Gate."
