7th Flieger Division 1940

Post by Trey Marshall »

Trying to resolve a muddy look at what forces of the 7th Flieger landed in Holland in 1940. I see that each fallschirm infantry battalion consisted of four companies, but were these all infantry companies or was the fourth one a heavy companie with mortars and heavy mgs? Also, did the fallschirm regiments that jumped in Holland have their mortar and anti tank companies? Thanks.

Each Fallschirm battalion had:-

Stab
Pioneer Platoon
Signal Platoon
3 Coy's FSJ ech with 18 Light MG's, 3 mortars of 5cm, 3 anti-tank guns/rifle
4th (Support Coy) with 12 heavy MG's, 8 8cm mortars

There was an A/T Company attached to the Parachute Regiment, but I do not know what kind of weapons they had or how it was dropped.

The 22 Airlanding Division had A/T , Geschutz, and Artillery units.

Flieger Gr. (5) Oldenburg

Post by jblair »

Do you know what Flieger Gr. (5) Oldenburg means? It is stamped on a leather map case I just obtained, also stamped 1937. I have assumed this was a Luftwaffe Unit stationed in Oldenburg, Germany at that time.
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. :?
