Re: Ersatz and Reserve division ?

Hi, John, thank for your data. Based upon your info, Ersatz division was separate unit from Replacement army. And Feld Ausbildung Division and Reserve division were same kind of unit but in different name. I only find Feld Ausbildung Division on the Eastern front e.g. 153rd and 388th ( Nord). And I...

Re: Ersatz and Reserve division ?

The German army was organized into two basic elements - the field army (Feldheer) and the replacement army (Ersatzheer). The replacement army was a different struc...

Jason, Well, this is the best I can come up with. Some of it was pieced together from my original discussion with the signals Oberstleutnant (Johannes Schmundt? - I can't quite read my scribble) and the rest I put together from some documents I came across in June of 1985 when I wrote out the list b...

Back in 1973 the computer system I used was called "Windows Pen and Paper" !! :D

So the question remains. Are my assumptions correct? Were the supposed pre-war numbered Landwehr-Divisionen numbered only if/when they were mobilized but otherwise known as Landwehr-Kommandeure (which were later formed into Infanterie-Divisionen)? Or were the various Landwehr-Kommandeure also known...

I hear that the Marines live for this type of invasion. Hey "sniper" !! :D Reminds me of the joke about the old, retired, Gunnery Sergeant, Hooly the Irishman, who goes in to see his doctor for his annual rectal examination. As soon as he drops his drawers and bends over the examination t...
