Hello!
If I remember correctly, (I can't check it right now), Anthony Beevor claims in his book:"Berlin", that most of the SS-troops had already removed their armbands for secrecy reasons. If someone has the book at hand, please check this for us.

Wiking StuGs

Thanks for your comments, Marko!
My source, in Finnish, use a term with different meanings. So, I've obviously translated the word "osasto" as Abtelung but it could also be translated as a detachment, or battery. Sorry for the mistake.
Let's keep on studying more, okey?

Wiking's StuGs

Some comments about the subject: I have read that the first StuGAbt of the Wiking had to given away almost immediately, to LSSAH, I presume. Unfortunately I don’t remember the source. StuGAbt's first encounter “The Russians started a strong counter attack in the end of January 1942 from Donets towa...

Thw Winter War

Hei! I may seem unbelievable, but the Winter War was tha last "old fashion" war. The Prisoners of war were treated well by both sides. The fighting was bloody, very bloody, but as far as I know, no war crimes were conducted in the front lines or elsewhere. Anyhow, it was an useless, bloody...
