Re: Balck's "Order in Chaos" to be published in English!

The book has been out for awhile. I got my copy in yesterday. Hardcover, with "printed-over" laminated hard covers. But looks to be digitally printed, something I find unacceptable for a book this expensive. The translation seems very good to me and Balck writes in a most engaging way. The...

Re: Prohorovka/Lawrence

The price estimate is in the 3 figures, i.e. probably between $100 and $200. That is what my current info indicates.

I clicked your link and found no such photos. Or does one have to actually sign in on Facebook? That won't happen here ever. I find it strange that someone of reasonable mental health actually follows that site.

Re: New book on SS-Pz.Rgt.12

Charles, what do you believe to be the reason for the preponderance of French authored and published books on the topic lately? I.e. do French authors and/or publishers have something that English language authors/publishers do not? Is perhaps French military history publishing atmosphere more favou...

Re: Sledgehammers

I read it years ago and if my memory isn't too rotten I think this book is just the opposite with few photos and mostly text. It does rely to a degree of Tom Jentz's Tiger books (esp. the volume with combat reports).

I hope Leaping Horseman gets a European distributor (within EU) as Aussie postal rates are brutal + at least locally VAT is imposed on imports outside the EU leading to nearly doubled price for the book.

Re: "Victory Was Beyond Their Grasp" by Nash out in hardcover

Good news! Being so far only in softcover, I have not added it to me collection. I have examined the softcover edition and it felt like the it might not last very well unless read with extreme care.

Thanks for the note! One hopes that JJF would be able to come up with better distribution. After all, e.g. RZM has done it.

Re: Prohorovka/Lawrence

I got a short reply from the publisher indicating that the editing is still underway and the book is likely to go to printers in the spring of 2015. It should not be forgotten that this is Chris Lawrence's hobby project, so if paying contracts are in the way, so be it. Plus the publisher is very per...

I will check if there are any status updates and report back in a day or two. Due to various reasons I have not been actively monitoring the progress for some time.

Re: New books on the III SS Pzkorps from Helion.

Though I have not obviously seen the book, I would be inclined to believe that the book will be a mixture of text and illustrations like Brenden's previous books. I.e. not pure text books like Tieke, but in likelihood with much wider range of sources as I believe Tieke did not speak Swedish, Norwegi...

It is also very promising that the translation and editing seems to be in very capable hands. A historian I highly respect reviewed the original German edition for a Finnish military journal in the early 1980s. He praised the book a lot.
