I wouldn't give this "Dog" any satisfaction by reading it.

Re: Execution of Black Soldiers
I don't see that executing black soldiers is in anyway a greater or lesser crime than executing anyone else. Why not just say "American soldiers". One should bear in mind that America also classed its coloured soldiers as "Untermenschen" at this time and for some time thereafter....

Re: I still love convoluted sentences
Hi ja Richard,
I just have trouble with 4 legged "Arses", but none with 4 legged "Asses". But hey I'm not really interested in either.

Re: Osama bin Laden dead
Personally I don't give a damn if Osama bin Laden is dead or not, as someone down under said he is probably sipping sodas in Majorca. I want to see the body that will help re-elect Obama. What I object to is the rejoicing over the deaths of others. The scenes I see of people rejoicing in the USA are...

Re: Partisans, Guerillas, and Resistance
All to true Tom. Most of the German documents I have refer to these ladies and gentlemen as "Terroristen". The allies called them heroes. The locals for the most part called them criminals of the worst type. Nothing much has changed. Today the allies in their oil & drug wars call them ...

Re: What do you read at the moment?
Hi Richard, Yes, it's the 1952 edition. It's damn good, well told yet shattering. To think that the Brits deliberately destroyed the maternity hospital in the belief that Liebel [Oberbürgermeister] was there beggars belief. Raises a lot of questions in my mind which I should have asked when my mothe...

Re: Looking for Grand father ( with very little to go on .
Hi Rob, As I stated, my last enquiry was in November 2010. Reply was in February 2011. I guess it depends on the variables involved, ie. information supplied, language used, relationship, possibly even rank. I know it took a lot longer to get information on my Obergefreiten father than it did on my ...

Re: Junkerschule Tölz & Smoking
There is no mention as to why they were reported. Could have been for good or bad. Schicklgruber did not smoke therefore I would think that there was no crime in not smoking. - Hans PS I'm told that all the survivors in our family smoked by 1944 to stave off the hunger pains. Most gave it away once ...

Re: Looking for Grand father ( with very little to go on .
Surely not a year. I normally receive advice within a couple of months re my relatives. Has been as little as 4 weeks and one of my cousins in Germany who researched his father on my behalf had an immediate turn around. Probably depends on how much info. is given to them by the enquirer and the lang...

Re: German use of bayonet
Don't know much about it, but from my readings and discussions with German veterans over the years they preferred the entrenching tool to the bayonet in close combat. It certainly handles better than a bayonet. Bayonet practice was certainly part of the training, but seemed to be looked upon as bein...

Re: France
It was hardly a party. Especially when up against some of the Colonial troops eg. the Senegalese. After the fighting was over it was certainly better. However France tended to be a prelude to a not so pleasant trip to the Eastern Front - a good reason to get a bit on the tipsy side.
