Oleg, Thanks for the info, since I can't find what I need besides personnel accounts I will have to concede. I know the General Staff improved its opinion of the Russian Army as the war went on. I did not think LtGen Bayerlin fought on the Eastern Front. I could be wrong but I thought he was in Nort...

Oleg, This is what I meant by Bulldozer effect. Now, I don't want to lump all Russian stratigists in here but from most of my reading and study I see the Russian Army using massive movements of men and Material toward German defensive positions. Wave after wave until the Germans had to give ground o...

Well from what I have read, I think Speer described him well during one of his interrogations in 45. In short, he stated Hitler led by intutition. Speer said he had sense for things in the begining. It was during this time he really started to distrust his General Staff because they would whine and ...

No worries, I am rooting for the home team!! lol What I meant was that it was an excellent fighter and it was used for a role it was not designed for. The Fighter Pilots like Galland were furious at this use. It was fortunate for us, but I doubt it would have changed any out comes. TOM: History Chan...

I also wanted to say that once Hitler had taken over the most minor details of frontline deployment (42-45), the Germans lost that ability to manuever and give ground when needed. Also, technology I don't think was handled very smoothly. Those new weapons were ariving too late to stem the tide. Some...

Video- The Eastern Front by Willamette River video
This is a four vol VHS or 2 Vol DVD on German-Russo War 1941-45
Has a lot of back ground info and at times gets into some of the battles and unit strengths. It was not bad for only spending $11. Got more then I paid for.
cheers

If I could wiegh-in here. I think I understand Achilles point. However, I was watching History Interational this weekend and they had a program on that stated on average, the Germans inflicted 50% more causaulties on thier enemies. I think the Germans started out heads and tails above the Allies fro...

KEITEL SLAMS PANZER COMMANDERS FOR FAILURE IN ARDENNES
In the book "INTERROGATIONS" by Richard Overy, Field Marshal Keitel says in an interrogation transcript on 27 June 45, that " The offensive did not succeed because amoung other reasons the leadership of armored troops was not in competent hands." I was taken aback by this comment...

DID SPEER'S ADVICE HELP THE WESTERN ALLIES IN FUTURE WARS?
I am knee deep in this book Interragations, and hit a spot where Albert Speer tells the American Bomb Survey Teams that they should have went after the Power and water plants and etc.... After reading that I thought about the first Gulf War and the way the coallition forces did just that in Bagdad. ...
