That is pretty much the case. When something is formed on trade and commerce with local governments in control it tends to pay for itself, even if the local governments are corrupt. Bribes are cheaper than soldiers and fleets. If empires are settled by colonists, roots grow deep. Unfortunately, elit...

Having studied the concept of Hitler's demise in order to write my novel Sealion's Byte I can say some things with certain clarity. 1. Regardless of who was in charge of Germany, WWII was ineviatable, from right to left. many Germans viewed getting even with Britain and France as well as to a lesser...

I doubt the Brits could have handled their empire more effectively. What killed the British empire was the bottom line. Costs outweighed profits. Armies of occupation cost money. Bleedling the natives dry just does not pay for them. I doubt they could have run their empire the way the US did with it...

As a student of history I would say the brits slit their own throats with their empire soon after besting the French afther the seven years war. Before that they were an empire based on trade and commerce who set up puppet governments in India and throughout asia and africa and self governing coloni...

1. Number of troops available is a matter of moblization. 2. I do believe that the Soviets did begin to move factories east to beyond the Urals before war began. They also began building factories east of the Urals. 3. The necessary experienced officials were not in place and up to skill since Stali...

I doubt heritage had anything to do with Lenin's actions. Historicly, Lenin's father was a peasant who worked his way up to the bottom rank of the nobility. Few of the Communist elite were peasants. Historicly few Intellectuals come from the peasant or working class. Lenin was an ideolog. That is wh...

Conidering how close the Germans came to winning in 1941, I doubt they would have had a much easier ride in 1940. They would have had more troops available, though less experienced. They would not be fighting a Two Front war. They would have access to greater resources. And could portray their actio...

1, Brits didn't own all the oil production. South America and the US as well as inependant arab states produced oil. And would sell to whom they cared. In theory the Brits could shut the Suez Canal but that would alienate the same people who sell them oil. Which could provoke retaliation. 2. Germany...

1. If Germany didn't go to war with Britain and France, they would have had access to oil of the middle east as well as the US. 2. They would have had similar access to raw materials. 3. Trucks could be purchased from other countries. They would also have had all the trucks they lost during the inva...

Over fifty thousand dutchmen served in the Wehrmacht and its auxiliaries. Without an army of occupation and local collaborators and thugs beating up local Jews but a strong anti-communist message The Germans would have attracted many volunteers. And remember, those troops who wouldhave served in tho...

I believe Hungary would have joined Germany in war with the Soviets. During the Post WWI period they suffered badly at hands of the Soviet regime of Bela Kun and his communist government. Horthy and company would see war with the soviets a means of settling old scores and preventing any future Kuns ...

Zeppelin and the Blue Max were great movies. Not your action and blood type so popular with the crowd but good stories. In Zeppelin, the fighting was well done. In peticular I enjoyed the dog fight where the British fighters shoot up the Zeppelin. Then there are the dogfight scenes of the BLue Max w...

Once Britain is under German boot, I doubt any european country would challenge the Germans. Nobody would be available to come to their aid. Italy and Spain might form an alliance, which would probably be joined by Hungary and Romania and Portugal. Vichy Frandcec might quietly link up. Petain and Fr...

Only IF that were part of their agenda. I doubt it would be. After all, with the Soviets and Europe occupied, Germany's resources would be stretched to their limit. Italy was allocated Africa to grab. Personally, I believe that the Germans and the Italians would leave Asia to Japan and favor a blank...

I doubt the Germans would have any interest in India. Too far from their territory and they didn't have the resources to occupy the British empire. Their racist beliefs would also be another reason why they would have no intererst there. At the same time I believe they would have handed over the six...
