My Trip to North Korea

Today I enjoyed a very special Christmas. I had a fantastic trip to North Korea today. Here are photos that I took in Kaesung ( 개성 ), the southernmost city in North Korea. Kaesung was a South Korean territory before the Korean War but was occupied by the Chinese troops in January 1951. So it took 57...

No such unit existed during the battle for the Arnhem Bridge.
There might be an error in translating non-English material. The unit that I meant is Panzerkompanie Mielke of Panzerersatzregiment Bielefeld.

The men in the schoolhouse had a good view of the vehicles as they approached. Two or three were allowed through before the order was given to open fire. Sapper Ronald Emery ...

I'm eagerly waiting for his book on Leningrad. Apart from his quality as a historian, he is a reader-friendly author which is very rare among western writers. His book reads like a novel.

That's excellent information Kim. Can you translate the other writing on the picture with a red circle. Thanks, Mike. The writing on the picture with a red circle means 'commemoration of landing' 上陸記念 ( jourikukinen ). 上陸 ( jouriku ) means 'landing' and 記念 ( kinen ) 'commemoration'. Kim is my famil...
