Re: Luftwaffe vs Swiss air force?!

.............For example: Polish Staff and policy makers believed, that Romania was still our ally, according to the treaty of 1921. So, we were sure that we were selling aircraft to a friendly state. No, Florin, I'm not saying, that we were betrayed or so. The matter is a little bit more complicat...

Re: Luftwaffe vs Swiss air force?!

. . . . . . PZL P.43 Czajka , an export version of PZL P.23 Karas light bomber was being sold to Bulgaria just before the war. The planes were being completed in summer 1939, so some of them reached Bulgaria taking off from free Poland, and some were delivered after the September Campaign by the Ge...

Re:

Hi Tony, The Romanians did not "send" their own designs for evaluation by the Germans, but German pilots did evaluate Romanian designs in Romania from early 1941. This was because the IAR80 and JRS79B medium bomber needed German-supplied components and materials and the Germans wanted to ...

Re: Luftwaffe vs Swiss air force?!

Thanks for the info on this, gents. It's an aspect of the conflict I'd been pretty much unaware of. I think a few countries came to regret some of their previous aircraft sales - from what I remember a few Hurricanes ended up with Axis satellite forces? And am I completely confused here or did Germ...

Re: Nuremberg Chronicle published by Anton Koberger in 1493

Hi,
The German authorities should have access to this find, and try to trace in what library belonged before. I tried a search on Internet to see what German governmental agency overview antiquities, but I could not find anything.

Re: Where to Hunt militaria in Berlin ??

I know, the question is about Berlin... However, for who is interested: I noticed that in the flea markets of New York the immigrants from the former Soviet Union offer all kind of German WWII things, like daggers, medals etc.

What happened on 10 December 1941 off the east coast of Malaya, near Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, would have happened 17 months earlier off the coast of Dover.

Re: Fuel

Hi Roadking, Because you mentioned the engines of the Soviet planes bombing Berlin in 1941, I have to say they were very unreliable. Few Soviet bombers were lost just because of that, during the raid in August 1941. Because other bombers reached Berlin, the mission was considered a success. As a res...

Re: Maps for Seelöwe

My personal opinion: if the invasion would be attempted in June-July 1940, BEFORE making sure that the Royal Air Force was terminated, it would succeed in geting a bridgehead in the south of England. The British battleships coming from Scotland would be vulnerable to aerial attacks and submarines.

I have one marked "Zendrick" or "Zendrik" ( it is not on hand, and it is far away ) and also with "SS".
I asked myself what "Zendrick" / "Zendrik" meant. At least it is obvious it was issued for SS.

Re: Fuel

Higher pressure in the combustion chamber of Diesel engine needs thicker walls for those cylinders, to cope with that pressure. With the technology available in the 1940's, that resulted in heavy engines, unless you use aluminum, like the Soviets for T-34. The Germans needed their aluminum for the h...
