Re: The Overloon Panther (need help)

No, you posted 13th October while the book in question says the 12th October. Therefore if you have the date wrong then you might well have been ignoring the crew when you saw the 12th as their death date. This is why I asked you about the date. If they actually died on the 12th you can search more ...

Re: The Overloon Panther (need help)

This tank gets some coverage in the Book "Kampfgruppe Walther and Panzerbrigdae 107 but they do not name the crew. The book does give the date as 12th October however which might help you locate any graves.

Do we think 8th Panzer Regiment on account of the style of numbering?
David, the white side walls on all the tyres is the indicator of PR 8 here.

Frank, look on Page 15 of this thread and see how many of the 234 series were in fact issued to DR.

Re: 5. Kompanie / Panzergrenadier Division Grossdeutschland ?

Sadly you sent a link for the 1940 Infanterie Regiment GD which has no direct connection to your original question about Panzergrenadier DIVISION GD which didn't come into being until 1943. Really you need to sort out which unit and date you're interested in.

Re: 5. Kompanie / Panzergrenadier Division Grossdeutschland ?

GD didn't have any "Schützen" units, it had a Panzer-Grenadier Regiment and a Panzer-Fusilier Regiment both of which had a 5th Company as the first "rifle" company in their second battalions.

Re: 5. Kompanie / Panzergrenadier Division Grossdeutschland ?

You will have to say which 5th Company you are looking for, which Regiment/Abteilung did it belong to ?

Have you tried googling it yourself, perhaps that would get you better results.

Re: Lorraine Schlepper. Indirect Fires?

Raul, there were in fact 94 of these built according to Spielberger, the 30 figure is the first production batch, in June 1942, which were intended for service in North Africa. The second batch served in France, there is a photograph in Spielberger dated June 1943 with 44 of them on parade.

Re: which german units were in Rhodes?

Am I the only one who thinks that is an SdKfz 250/9 and not a 222 ? Given that I am correct this photograph cannot have been taken on Rhodes as no units on Rhodes had the 250/9.
Further, are there many railways on Rhodes ? The SdKfz 250/9 photograph is of vehicles on a train.

Re: The Landwasserschlepper.

David, the date on which the various photographs were taken would help, we can assume that they would have repainted the LWS eventually.
