Hello, It is the usual complicated "KTB language" but it makes sense - "There is no sign of a withdrawal of forces from any sector of the frontline at the Gen.Kdo. The enemy keeps the frontline positions strongly manned and continues replacement movements inside the pocket under this ...

Tom, even we native speakers have to read such sentences several times before having the clear meaning. :-)

Re: Winter of 1941/42 and the lack of proper equipment

Hello, Posting a report about the winter 1941/42 written by the IVb of the Totenkopf division. The troops were in general porly equipped for winter warfare in Russia. There was an outright want of winter clothing and especially felt boots. There were hardly enough fur coats available to supply the s...

Re: Kriegsgliederung question

Hello,

The first two units are "Grenzschutz" units. So it is the Grenzschutz Nachrichtenzug (mot) 12 - Because Höh.Kdo.(z.b.V.) XXXIV. evolved from Grenz.Schtz.Kdo.12.
The second is a Grenzschutz Kradzug 312.
The third "Lyra" symbol is a military band.

Hello,

I would also read Sturmbannführer Thon;
The "A" is "Wehrmachtbriefstelle Salzburg" which is a delivery authority for letters.

Re: KsTN for Ohren and Magen units

Hello,

John, he is meaning companies which consisted of soldiers suffering from Ohren(ear) or Magen- (stomach) "diseases".
Tom, I never saw a special KStN for them but I think I have some material about them and will look into it.

Hello Richard,

You already provided a very good translation. We use the term "da vergeht mir der Appetit" when we see/hear something disgusting.

Re: vehicle registration number - is there possibly to ID unit?

Hello,

Some people have compiled a database with license plates. This would be a lottery win if someone would have it.
There is no other way of finding out the unit from this number.
