Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

Thanks Scott, though I count vol. 5 as the sixth in the series. The German Cross in Silver volume covered all holders but is unnumbered.

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

Volume 6 is the 2nd half of the Polizei Division and independent Polizei units, as well as those non-divisional senior SS and Police leaders who won the Order.

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

Managed to get all done, in, designed, proofed, and now out of my hands for volume 5 before two new surgeries I must deal with soon. So I'll be "out of the loop" again while dealing with those medical issues. A big problem for the volume 5 delay was incompatibility with publisher's des...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

Slowly but sure, things progress. I've mailed back to the publisher the first 175 corrected design pages for volume 5 of "German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police." Damn IBM to MAC problems compatability stalled everything, and even the designed pages showed a lot I thought would ...

Re: SS Waffen soldier

Are you sure about the "seven" years in French captivity? I may be wrong, but I thought that all German POWs in the West, including the Waffen-SS, were released by 1948, unless convicted of a specific crime. Q Many were held after 1948 in the West. Among others was Otto Weidinger was neve...

Re: SS Waffen soldier

I have the following in volume 5 (addendum) of "German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police" Page 173 , Hans Schmidt: born in Worms on July 16, 1917, he served in the Hitler Youth from July 1933 to July 1934, and then two periods in the RAD from July 1934 to March 1935 and from Octob...

Re: Feldgrau Author Phil Nix

The volume has "it and a bag of chips" on the Orpo, from major elements and commands to those aspects few would consider part of the Police but they were. My favorite chapter of the book is the breakdown of the complete Hauptamt Orp, with each office function, commanders, when the offices ...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

Other than a few long time friends such as John Moore, I'll be off the grid and not replying PMs or e-mail until late January.

I had a heart attack Dec 5th and am moving in January to a new residence due to that event.

Best holiday wishes,
Mark

Thanks, but the books themselves are more than enough to deal with. I already produce more than most on a regular basis.

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

Mark - Congrats and best wishes of success on your new release in the series. While I have not purchased any of these yet, I am planning on hunting down a copy of your volume 2 that I believe covered Das Reich . I have a quick question about the volume--do you recall if you covered any veterans fro...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

must be a market for those who don't actually read books but just look at pictures. Certainly is, called coffee table books. There is a place for this type of material. A book that comes to mind is "Wenn alle Bruder Schweigen" Many of us bought this book thinking it would benefit the Vete...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

A lot of material can be found. I think many give up when they see the costs and time involved in certain specific areas or types of books. Some publishers also seem to dwell on unit "history" books with 500 fuzzy tank pictures and 1 line captions. Easier and faster. But really add nothing...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Mark C Yerger

I am looking forward to Volume 5. Do each DKiG winner have a photo or were there any that you could not source the photo? Cheers Scott The available ratio is about the same as previous volumes, in addition to the commander, Ia, and other relative illustrations. The basis and value of any book for l...
