Mortar Questions

1. When was the 50mm mortar taken out of the Infantry Companies?

2. What was the basic load (number of rounds) that the crew carried with the weapon?

3. What was the basic load for the 81mm mortar?

Yes the P08 is legendary but the P38 is more expensive .
One of the reason Germany switched to P38 is that the P38 was LESS expensive than the P08.

. . . but the Americans' feeling of ostentation also extends to things like college degrees, so they'd just rather not have them. Goes along with the general anti-intellectualism that still resides in the Red States to this day. After all this time away from this forum I was glad to see that substa...

That's a start! I would like to eventually be able to recreate the qualification "table." x rounds, at y meters, z hits (score) = level of award. Reason, our reenacting units holds several live fires a year, at one I would like to run a qualification range for our members based on the actu...

Markmanship Lanyards

I asked this in December 04 and had no responses, so I ask again.

Anyone know of the standards that equate to an awarding of a Heer (rifle) markmanship lanyard, e.g 1st Class, 4th Class, 9th Class etc?

Thanks,

Jeff

Tom:

My thoughts exactly. In the "zillions" of photos I have looked at I have found one Lanser with what looks like a US GI M1916 45 Auto holster and pistol, and scores of PPs, Browning Hi-powers, Lugers and P38s, all on a waist belt, even the tankers.

I think this is a made up item.
