Yes, well, it didn't exactly take either threats from Hitler (or 30 pieces of silver) to get the arch-fascist Marshall Mannerheim to join in the Nazi aggression against the Soviet State. Not so sure about the fascist part, if even USA has released a stamp of Mannerheim six years after the war, with...

Mark I agree with you completely! I will admit that I have been tempted to copy pictures from books, but with my charasteristics it's not possible. I wouldn't be happy at all with the result, when I know that I really don't own the pictures. It's just sad I think. Most of the web pages that are show...

I'll grant some in other countries may not understand. Having had heart surgery this year I need to walk away for the day, reading this thread is bad for my health, as is the attitude and obvious lack of moral character exercised by some portions of the reading public. Thanks... My only intention w...

Maybe I'm bit off from the topic with this comment, but when you write something, be it online or as a printed version, you need to find a reference from other books. I have always said and thought, that if you take reference to your own work, from more than a one book, you can claim that text to be...

Hi Dasbootz, but I've always wondered, certainly in WWII there were individual machine-gunners responsible for scores of deaths in only one battle and, I assume, scores of dead enemies and a broken attack wave in the next battle and so on. But not once have I ever seen a post memoralizing a machine...

Re: The great Finnish sniper - Simo Hayha

Well, Russians are relatively easy to shoot when they attempt to transverse deep snow in mass assaults. No big deal. Or easy to shoot, because of their big red star on their hats. My greatgrandfather always said that he felt sorry for the Russian soldiers, because he had to shoot them. They didn't ...

Actually I liked that Information Minister. He always smiled when he was telling something. It was nice to joke about him speaking, because it was like he was thinking in his mind, that can I claim even more crazy things and will these journalist believe me even? His stories were always flying so hi...

Holland being a small country, you could easily go a bit off from your travelling route and visit the museum in Arnhem? I never got the chance of visiting the museum there, while I was working in Tillburg. There should be also other locations to visit, that deals with the Operation Market Garden. So...

I thought this same thing when I started to photograph documents, leaflets and few books from the Third Reich and putting them online. I came to the conclusion that while some person could still claim the ownership of books from Third Reich, I'm quite sure that nothing like that wont happen. First o...

I'd say that the picture is from the Balkans.

While looking those soldiers on the truck, on the left side, they could have belonged to Waffen-SS.

At least I cannot clearly see their collar patches being like with Heer.

I take information where ever I can get. From US sources, from England, Russia, France and even that al-jazeera, or how do you write that? Then I just simply reduce half from that information. Like if the US sources say that we have made remarkable advance, that means that we have advanced moderatel...
